This piece frames two pieces of old, hand-woven vintage Indonesian Ikat textile from Ende, Flores. This pillow boasts a perfectly faded black base adorned with a burgundy and rust-colored Ikat pattern, giving it a naturally washed-out, vintage appearance that effortlessly adds character and history to any room.
Ikat from Ende is renowned for its intricate designs and vibrant colors, rooted in centuries-old traditions of Indonesian weaving. Each piece is meticulously handwoven by skilled artisans, and dyed using natural plant dyes, often taking anywhere from 3 - 6 months per piece to complete, making it a unique work of art. Ikat patterns of weaving are handed down as a taught skill from generation to generation - it is a rare art in decline. We feel very fortunate to be able to source & support this art, in our own indirect way.
