This piece frames two pieces of old, hand-woven vintage Indonesian Ikat textile from Ende, Flores. Experience the effortless elegance of our Framed Vintage Ikat III with its beautifully faded black base, adorned with a deep burgundy and rust-colored Ikat pattern. Add a touch of natural vintage appeal and character to any room with this stunning textile.
Ikat from Ende is renowned for its intricate designs and vibrant colors, rooted in centuries-old traditions of Indonesian weaving. Each piece is meticulously handwoven by skilled artisans, and dyed using natural plant dyes, often taking anywhere from 3 - 6 months per piece to complete, making it a unique work of art. Ikat patterns of weaving are handed down as a taught skill from generation to generation - it is a rare art in decline. We feel very fortunate to be able to source & support this art, in our own indirect way.
This framed piece highlights the real art and skill required to create this kind of textile. Each line woven in, creating an extremely tight weave and intricate pattern work.
