These unusual beads are individually carved from fossilized Stegodon, an ancient animal from the Proboscidea family. These trunk-bearing mammal creatures inhabited areas near the Solo River in central Java from 11.6 mya to late Pleistocene, with some records suggesting they may have survived up until four millennium ago.
These special beads measure approximately 0.5" in diameter and 5/8" length each, each strand measures approximately 12 inches in length. Bead shape will vary between round to cylindrical.
